Though it might be too much to ask for, I, for one, would be interested in hearing the reasons why these changes were deemed necessary.
I can only account for my own thinking, but it is perhaps worth noting that a book review section of some years ago would not boast a column on digital lit, but would feature genre roundups. Just a thought.
Having written genre roundups for years, I must profess my fondness for them.
ReplyDeleteBut I also have sympathy with Frank's reasons for not liking them.
The principal reason for my aversion to roundups is that they throw fire on the genre/literary fiction war. I figure if a book is worth a review it deserves some space of its own. Which doesn't mean good reviewers can't write good roundups.
