Contrarians ...

... Writers Seek Workplaces Without Wi-Fi. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

  1. I go to a local coffeeshop sometimes. They have WiFi, but I don't take my laptop, just my notebooks.

I do some really good writing whenever I go camping. In August almost every year I go up northernmost Minnesota for two weeks in the woods. Not only is there no WiFi at the cabin, electricity is still 20 miles away. That's paradise. I get a lot of writing done mornings in the tent.

Social networks are time-eaters. This just shows how they can distract us away from what matters, too.
